Oil Paints

Image
I bought oil paints to try them for the first time. I had never used them before and i wanted to use them because the majority of famous artists used them. they take a long time to dry so you can work around with the paint. I only bought 5 colors, red, yellow, blu, white and burt umber so I am really enjoying mixing my own palette I really like this new medium and I think I will stick with them for my paintings. This was for an art contest with the theme Around The World  Hospitals were requesting art to cheer the patients that couldn't have visitors due to COVID-19, so I sent this one in  these were the first two oil paintings I did. the one of the flag, I painted on the 4th of July, and the face I painted to get used to my new oil paints

Art on the Trails

Image
The Nueces Delta Preserve had its first annual Art on the Trails June 2019. Many artist came and created while families walked around and watched. There was fabric art, found things shadow boxes, leaf pressings and other painters.  My work in progress. I love nature so it was great to combine that with my love of art.

Another Art in Worship

Image
This is the finished piece. It says, " He finished his mission...but we still have ours." The sermon was about what our mission is, sharing the good news of Jesus with the whole world.  I started with a black canvas but painted part of it white at home. Half way done. It took me both services to finishing the painting.

More Contests (that I didn't win)

Image
I entered the Endangered species contest. I drew an ocelot and talked about how important it is to save its habitat. I like that we both live in South Texas. You can see the winning art here. I entered the Art in STEAM contest at the South Texas Museum of Art . While I didn't place with my painting, Lydia got 3rd in photography for her age.   Every year Google has students enter into their Google Doodle contest. This year's theme was my hope for the future. I hope that all people will live in peace and love together. I didn't really put much effort in this one because it was a last minute piece. But next year, we learned to do the art on their entry form instead of trying to take a picture.
